Photographer's Response

"1. Why did you choose to become a professional photographer?

Photography is all that I have ever done.  I started shooting concerts in high school and decided that is what I wanted to pursue in 11th grade.  I love it and I am lucky that I get to shoot a variety.

2. How did you yourself get started in photography?

I kind of answered this above.  I started by photographing concerts for fun.  I went to college for photography after high school and studied at Indiana State and then transferred to Columbia College to finish my schooling.

3. Do you enjoy your work?

Absolutely.  It's really something special when you get to do what you love and get paid to do it.  I definitely can't complain!

4. What makes you successful?

Being able to do what I love.  The money definitely does not hurt but I told myself since I started this is what I want to do regardless of what I make.

Feel free to ask any other questions that can help you out!

My favorite shot is number 1.  I love number 9 just as much but I wish it was cropped vertical.  The thing I notice in your work is cropping/framing.  I think you need to get closer or pay attention to the background while shooting.  Number 4 would be great if it was cropped a bit at the bottom and a lot from the right side.  The cars and hand are a bit distracting.  I feel the same with several of the dog shots.  Too much going on in the background that takes away from your subject.  I'd like to know more about Number 10.  I am sure it makes a lot more sense with the full series.

Hope this helps some!"
